- Why Sonuswealth exists

Built from the question every household eventually faces.

How much is enough, where is everything, what happens if life changes, and will my family know where to look if I am not here to explain it? Sonuswealth began with those questions, then grew into a UK wealth platform for every stage of adult life.

- The origin

It started as a retirement question, not a startup pitch.

Sonuswealth began when founder Mihir Patel was planning his own retirement. The problem was not one missing account. It was the whole picture: pensions, cash, property, liabilities, trusts, wills, tax, documents, and the practical question of what his family would need if he was not there to explain it.

The first version was built for one household. The bigger idea came later: the same clarity should exist for anyone trying to understand their wealth, from a first job through retirement and legacy planning.

1. Put everything in one place.

Not just accounts. Pensions, property, liabilities, insurance, wills, trusts, cashflow, documents, and decisions.

2. Make the future visible.

Retirement, job changes, house moves, tax events, family changes, inheritance, and the moments where one decision affects several others.

3. Treat tax as part of wealth.

Tax is not an afterthought. For many households and business owners, it is one of the main reasons the picture changes.

4. Keep it understandable.

The answer has to be readable by a normal household. If the explanation needs a specialist to translate it, the product has failed.

- Founder-led

Built by someone who spent a career making numbers useful.

Sonuswealth was founded by Mihir Patel, a CIMA-qualified accountant with more than 40 years' experience across planning, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow, ERP, analytics, financial consolidation, and strategic planning systems.

Before Sonuswealth, Mihir was a partner and company owner in a consultancy and software reseller business serving FTSE 350 organisations across sectors including pharmaceuticals, construction, finance, insurance, marketing, and private equity. The business was acquired more than four years ago.

From business planning to household planning
Companies get serious planning tools. Families deserve better than fragments.
Mihir spent decades helping organisations understand cashflow, forecasts, risks, consolidation, and scenarios. Sonuswealth applies that planning discipline to household wealth, without turning the experience into corporate software.
Built first for family
The first use case was personal.
What do we have, where is it, what changes if something happens, and how does the family get the right information at the right time?
Built with adviser reality in mind
Good advisers still matter.
Sonuswealth is not built to replace an IFA. It is built to keep the picture current between meetings and help households ask better questions.
Built with UK-NRI complexity
We know wealth can cross borders.
As a UK-NRI himself, Mihir wanted the product to reflect the reality that wealth is often spread across countries, documents, families, and rules.
Built honestly
Founder-led today. Bigger over time.
Sonuswealth is founder-led now. As the company grows, the principle stays the same: show the full picture, make assumptions visible, and respect the line between guidance and advice.
The mission
Help people become interested in their own financial life before pressure forces the issue.
Wealth planning should not start only when someone retires, inherits, sells a business, changes job, loses income, or faces a tax deadline. Sonuswealth is being built so those questions can be explored earlier, calmly, and in plain English.
- The gap

Most people are not missing effort. They are missing a live picture.

Many households do the responsible thing: they use spreadsheets, save statements, keep policy documents, meet advisers, file tax returns, and try to keep track. The problem is that the information still lives in different places and rarely updates as life changes.

Advisers can be valuable, but they are not with you every day. They usually see a snapshot: a meeting pack, a quarterly review, or documents gathered from providers. Sonuswealth is designed to keep the picture current between meetings, so households can spot changes earlier and bring cleaner questions to professionals when advice is needed.

Scattered records

Pensions, ISAs, mortgages, cash, trusts, wills, insurance, company interests, and family documents often live in separate systems, folders, and memories.

Out-of-date snapshots

A plan can look sensible in a meeting and drift a month later when income, tax, markets, debt, property, or family priorities change.

Tax after the decision

A house move, pension contribution, business decision, salary change, gift, or drawdown choice can have tax consequences that show up too late.

What-if questions

What if I retire earlier, change jobs, move house, lose income, support family, or need more cash each month? The hard part is seeing the knock-on effect across the whole picture.

No day-to-day companion

Most people do not have an adviser on call. Even those who do still need a calm place to check assumptions between formal reviews.

Family continuity

If something happens, the people left behind should not have to search through drawers, inboxes, old spreadsheets, and half-remembered conversations.

- Who it serves

For the whole financial life, not one narrow moment.

Sonuswealth is meant for people starting out, growing wealth, raising families, dealing with complexity, approaching retirement, already retired, or planning what they leave behind. The details change by stage. The need is the same: one trustworthy picture.

Sonu shown across six financial life stages, from starting out through leaving a legacy.
Starting out.

Understand pensions from old jobs, ISAs, first-home choices, debt, emergency cash, and the habits that compound quietly.

Building wealth.

Bring salary, property, pensions, savings, protection, tax, and family decisions into one working model.

Peak complexity.

Model business income, tax, pension allowances, trusts, mortgages, school fees, elder care, and cross-border questions without losing the thread.

Retirement and legacy.

See cashflow, drawdown, estate position, documents, beneficiaries, and the information your family may need later.

“Built first for one family. Designed for every household that wants the full picture before decisions become urgent.”

- Principles

The lines we are drawing early.

The product is still being built, but the boundaries are not vague. Sonuswealth is an information and guidance service. It helps you see, model, organise, and ask better questions. It does not replace regulated advice.

Information and guidance only.

We show the picture, the rules, the assumptions, and the options. We do not tell you which regulated product to buy.

No products to push.

No managed money, no pension sales, no insurance sales, no mortgage sales, and no hidden product agenda.

One source of truth.

Every surface should read from the same household picture so tax, cashflow, risk, estate, timeline, and Ask do not contradict each other.

Plain English first.

The model can be sophisticated underneath. The answer on screen has to be calm, readable, and useful.

Adviser-complement, not adviser-replacement.

When regulated advice is needed, the right professional still matters. Sonuswealth should make that conversation better.

Your data stays yours.

The product is being designed around export, deletion, privacy, and the principle that your financial life is not raw material for a data business.
