What Sonu can and can't do: Sonu explains UK rules in plain English using your stated situation. Sonu does not tell you whether to drawdown, gift, set up a trust, or change advisers — those are regulated activities. For a recommendation, see an authorised adviser. Information & guidance only — not regulated advice.

- The Ask boundary

What Ask will, and won't, do.

Ask is information and guidance. It can explain your numbers and the trade-offs. It will not tell you what to buy, sell, or sign. Where a question crosses into regulated advice, Ask says so and points you to an authorised adviser.

Ask will

  • Explain what a number on your dashboard means and where it came from.
  • Run a scenario — "what if I retire two years earlier" — against your real cashflow and tax position.
  • Show the rule behind a calculation (which Finance Act, which HMRC threshold) and link to the source.
  • Flag a deadline you should know about — ISA tax-year end, April 2027 pension change, RNRB tapering.
  • Hand a complex question to the Decision Engine so the answer becomes a structured record.

Ask won't

  • Tell you which fund, platform, or annuity to choose. That's regulated advice.
  • Recommend a specific pension transfer or DB-to-DC conversion.
  • Draft a will, set up a trust, or give legal opinions on either.
  • Pretend a forecast is a guarantee — every projection states the assumptions and shows the stress case.
  • Give you tax advice in the FCA / HMRC-regulated sense. We point you to a qualified adviser for that.

Bigger question? Hand it to the Decision Engine.

When a question needs assumptions, scenarios, trade-offs, and a review date, Ask hands it to the Decision Engine — the structured record behind the answer.
